If your starting point is within the Bay Area, try seeing your city from the perspective of a tourist – Golden Gate Park, Alcatraz, Pier 39, or anywhere else you’ve never visited for yourself.
Escape Within the City
Inside Golden Gate National Recreation Area is a whole different world than city life. Muir Woods National Monument, bars and restaurants, and fun places to stay the night make the park one of the best escapes right here in the city. You don’t have to travel too far, but you’ll get some time in the great outdoors to enjoy the late winter weather.
Hit Up Wine Country
Wine country is an ideal destination for those coming in from the Bay Area. There’s an abundance of high-end, quaint, or picturesque wineries to choose from. Even if a glass of wine isn’t your thing, you can still enjoy gourmet bites and stunning views all in just under an hour and a half.
A Drive with a View
We couldn’t finish this list without including a drive up the coast. Depending on the length of your trip, you can decide which adventure you’ll take. Will you end up relaxing in Half Moon Bay or walking the Devil’s Slide? Maybe you want to take in the views of Big Sur or check out the Hollywood sign? Even if you’re just in it for the drive, the Coastal Highway is a must.
